I was asked an interesting question today.
One that does not, I'm afraid, have a very simple answer. In reference to what I do, I was asked, "What makes a recording good?" Or perhaps, better stated, "What makes one recording better than another?" The answer to this question is, of course, steeped in subjectivity and far from simple. One of the best ways I have found to answer the question has been to recommend my favorite recordings to others. In that spirit, I'm gonna spend the next several posts talking about some of the best recordings I have encountered personally. This list will not be exhaustive and is certainly not in any particular order. I encourage you to find and listen to some of these records and let me know if you like them or not.
