I went to a show last night. It seems like it's been too long since I've done that. Which isn't really true, because I went to live music all the time in New York. But this was different for some reason. It felt more grass-roots I suppose. All the artists were great. I'll only tell you about my favorite two though. Casey Dienel was a sort of bizzare, indie-cabaret thing. She's an excellent piano player, and approaches singing like she's shy, but is very dynamic. The best comparison I could make stylistically is Regina Spector. Damien Jurado was awesome as per usual. The pic above is of he and his cellist Jenna (who I have a predictable indie-girl crush on). I got CD's from both, so if anyone wants to borrow them, just let me know.
